Barbara Hance designs and creates, handcrafted, Fine Silver Jewelry made from Metal Clay. Metal Clay is manufactured by two companies and marketed in the United States as Precious Metal Clay and Art Clay. PMC (Precious Metal Clay) was developed in Japan in the early 1990's, by Mitsubishi, and introduced to the US in 1995. Art Clay was developed in Japan in 1991, by Aida Chemical Industries, and introduced to the US in 1997.
Metal Clay is made of tiny particles of silver or gold, suspended in an organic binder. When sintered in a kiln the binder burns away leaving an item that is pure silver (.999 Fine Silver ) or 24K Gold. This "clay" medium can be molded, shaped, carved and textured, allowing the artist endless creative possibilities.
All clasps, earring wires and findings are made of .999 Fine Silver or .925 Sterling. Please click on "Gallery-Browse Awhile" to see just a few of the designs that are available. Each piece is a handcrafted original, made to be worn, enjoyed and last for generations! Custom orders are welcome!
